Electric Charging Stations in Tourist Destinations

  • Published on September 30, 2022

The installation of electric charging stations at tourist sites will encourage tourists to use electricity generated from biomass. Through this initiative, New Jersey becomes known throughout the Northeast as an Electric Vehicle (EV) destination and a pioneer in EV policy.

New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) has launched a grant programme for electric vehicle charging. Through the programme distinct attractions can apply for up to six level two chargers and two DC chargers. The electric cars can alternative reuse and recyclying the Electric Vehicle (EV) battery pack. Such a battery initially designed to power a motorbike/car can be reused to store wind and solar energy and smoothen energy fluctuations on the grid as energy storage unit at a hotel. By repurposing EV batteries, innovators can prevent EV battery waste, limit the extraction of critical raw materials, and partly offset the indirect CO₂ emissions associated with the production of EV batteries.
