The Hairy Coo

The Hairy Coo is a tour operator based in Edinburgh, Scotland. We offer a range of fun and fascinating Scotland tours from Edinburgh.  Visitors can choose from private tours, day trips and multi-day coach tours. We aim to show visitors the very best of Scotland but as we love our country, we also want to preserve the places that we visit.

We have created a Sustainability page on our website that explains fully what we do to try and be a sustainable tour company.   

Firstly, we work with some charities and organisations that specialise in conserving the places that we take our visitors.  For instance, we support the John Muir Trust which is a Scottish conservation charity dedicated to protecting and developing wild lands. This charity has a fantastic reputation and does work in some of the areas of the Isle of Skye that we visit.  We have also donated to the 'Wee Harry Potter Bridge Project' at the Glenfinnan Viaduct.  The purpose of this project was to improve the safety of local residents and visitors that visit this area. We are also working towards certification on the Green Tourism Business scheme. 

Secondly, we try to be environmentally responsible as a company.  Any promotional material that we produce is made of recycled paper. Our website provides more information on our other initiatives.

Thirdly, we try to encourage our guests to think of the environment.  We suggest drinking tap water and taking bottles that can be refilled on our tours.  Our drivers stop at places where bottles can be refilled. We provide onboard recycling facilities on our coaches.

We will continue to learn about the environment and improve our practices where possible.
