Global Tourism Plastics Initiative Signatory
In 2019, Futouris e.V has started its industry project “Plastic-free holidays on Balearic Islands” which is supported by all Futouris members. It aims at reducing the plastic consumption and waste as well as increasing the recycling rate on the Balearic Islands. The organization is working together with local partners as well as with the Balearic government. After the conduction of a pre-study to determine the current status of plastic waste in hotels, Futouris e.V has developed pilot measures to be implemented by and in the participating hotels. In addition, they have created a plastic reduction guidance, supporting tourism businesses to reduce (single-use) plastics by using more sustainable alternatives such as reusable products.

Futouris member companies are committed to the Paris agreement and the goals of the German government's climate protection plan 2050. In order to achieve these goals, we work with our member companies to reduce tourism emissions in all areas substantially, absolutely and measurably.
Futouris member companies are dedicating their current joint industry project to climate protection. The main aim of this project is to calculate carbon emissions caused by holiday products in a consistent way and communicating them to travel industry staff and customers to enable informed decision making, thus reducing tourism emissions.
