Azerbaijan Tourist Guides Association – ATGA

ATGA aims to become a single collective voice of all guides and key players in enhancing the professionalism of Azerbaijan’s guiding industry. They strive to represent all guides in Azerbaijan and increase the professionalism and quality of guiding in the country.

Commitments:

In the framework of the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative, ATGA commits to: 

  • Encouraging our affiliated organisations and businesses or partners to join the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative by engaging the value chain and suppliers regarding water in cans or glasses, lunchboxes and changing to cardboards; by promoting a campaign on usage with posters next to trash bins, by taking action to increase the amount of recycled content across all plastic, by segregating waste, by engaging individual guides and guides within TA/TO to promote the reduction of plastic waste, by reporting publicly on the progress made through media and social media channels. 

  • Advising and guiding affiliated organisations and businesses or partners to better manage plastics in their operations through practices, criteria, standards, and/or policies, and support them to implement their commitments to the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative when applicable by collaborating with the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan Tourism Board, State Tourism Agency, Azerbaijan Hotels Association and with other partners in the tourism field.

  • Promoting orally the GTPI with travelers and continue communicating with their business partners based on their partnership agreement.
