YOUTH CLIMATE ACTION CHALLENGE - Chloride Free

The Youth Climate Action Challenge is an initiative led by the Global Shapers Community (from the World Economic Forum) and The Climate Reality Project. The challenge is a global call for youth-led innovative solutions that protect people and the planet from the devastating consequences of climate change.

The Challenge Focus Areas were: Civic Engagement, Climate Justice, Green Cities, Circular Economy, Nature. 

The Chloride Free Foundation - CFF were one of the 9 winners, and they were selected to join a cohort of a select group of innovators working on Climate Change solutions. They were also invited to join a 6-month program to help scale their solution.

The programme will include: 

  • Targeted Support: Access to educational resources and targeted support to help refine, strengthen, and communicate the innovation to a broader audience.

  • Networking and Mentorship: Networking and mentorship opportunities with World Economic Forum and partner networks to expand connections, get advice, raise the profile and improve the visibility of the innovation.

  • Global exposure via the World Economic Forum and partners’ digital channels, and participation in selected World Economic Forum and partner events.

  • Growth Opportunities: Opportunities to find investment, access ecosystem partners and catalyse growth.

CFF were selected on January 21st, 2022, and the program will start on February 2022.

Relation to GOAL 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

Besides promoting sustainable agriculture, which includes sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources, CFF project also educates consumers providing reliable information so they can make informed decisions on the way they consume.

The Chloride Free winner project includes:

Civic Engagement

Through the Ambassador Program Chloride Free educates young people about the importance of soil biodiversity and chloride-free agriculture. Together they work to raise awareness and get more young people involved in promoting soil biodiversity

Nature

The CFF works to promote sustainable agriculture and restore croplands that have lost soil health due to the use of saline potassium fertilizers. Increasing soil biodiversity, soil health, carbon sequestration, crop resilience and farmer's profits.
