Improving the human capital basis- European Construction Sector Observatory

This analytical report is part of the European Construction Sector Observatory (ECSO) and aims to provide insight into the Thematic Objective 2 “Improving the human capital basis of the construction sector” of the EU Construction 2020 Strategy. It provides an overview of the characteristics of the construction sector workforce in the EU-28, the main drivers and obstacles to the development of skills and the policy responses adopted by Member States.
This analytical report is only one of the 83 publications of the European Construction Sector Observatory, an initiative of the European Commission that regularly analyses and carries out comparative assessments on the construction sector in all 28 EU countries – aiming to keep European policymakers and stakeholders up to date on market conditions and policy developments. On the Observatory's website you can find also: -28 Country Fact Sheets, that profile the construction industry in the 28 EU countries, providing an analysis of key figures, macro-economic indicators, economic drivers, issues and barriers, innovation, the national/regional policy and regulatory framework, and the current status and national strategy to meet Construction 2020 objectives. -3 Analytical Reports, that provide the EU with a wide analysis of the socio-economic and environmental performance of the of the construction sector. -52 Policy Measure fact sheets, that analyse policy measures that are being implemented in each EU country to stimulate construction sector employment, growth and sustainability.
