EVENT: The 10th MAC meeting of the SFS Programme

The Sustainable Food Systems Programme held its 10th MAC meeting between 12th-13th October 2018 at FAO Headquarters in Rome, Italy.

The SFS Programme held its 10th MAC meeting between 12th-13th October 2018 at FAO Headquarters in Rome, Italy. The most remarkable discussion points, achievements and decisions are as follows:

  • The MAC adopted five new Programme Partners, bringing the total number to 131.
  • The MAC approved one new resource and seven new affiliated projects, bringing the total number of resources to 10 and that of affiliated projects to 43. More information on the Affiliated Projects webpage.
  • The MAC discussed the draft “SFS Glossary of Key Approaches, Concepts and Terms” as well as the “Transformative Sustainable Food Systems Framework”, two of the components of the SFS Toolbox that is currently under development. Both of these tools are schedule to be presented at the 2nd global SFS Programme conference (5-7 February 2019, San José, Costa Rica).
  • The MAC also discussed the priority elements of the One Planet network 5-year strategy, and requested that the Co-Leads prepare a proposal for their inclusion into the SFS Programme work plan.
  • The MAC requested the Co-Leads to develop and launch a preparatory process for the 2019 renewal of the Co-leadership and MAC terms.
  • The next face-to-face MAC meeting will take place in San José, Costa Rica, on 7-8 February 2019.
  • The MAC decided to take stock of progress within portfolio initiatives at its next face-to-face meeting (7-8 February 2019, San José, Costa Rica).
