Policy brief "How can Sustainable Public Procurement pave the way to Sustainable Development"

This policy brief, published in English and Arabic, is intended to bring sustainable public procurement (SPP) to the attention of public procurers and policy makers in Lebanon, as well as stakeholders in the private sector and civil society. It introduces SPP as good procurement considering more than the green and environmental dimension, and details its contribution to sustainable development. The policy brief provides guiding principles, highlights countries' experiences, exposes the impact of SPP on economic gain, environment protection and social inclusion of disadvantaged groups, and screens opportunities for developing countries. This brief sheds light on the efforts of the Lebanese Ministry of Finance made to introduce SPP as a core pillar of the modernization process and proposes policy advice for the design and implementation of SPP policies in Lebanon.
