Pekka coordinates the global 10YFP Sustainable Buildings and Construction Programme that Ministry of the Environment, Finland leads and RMIT University from Australia, UNEP and WGBC support as Co-Leads. Before this position I acted e.g. as a Key Account Manager and Principal Scientist for VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland developing EcoCity concept for emerging economies and developing countries and prepared such projects successfully in Egypt, Zambia, Tanzania, Libya and Morocco and before those contributed to similar projects in China, Kenya, Malaysia and Vietnam. Pekka has also served over ten years as a Visiting Professor for Sustainable Built Environment research at University of Salford in the UK. Pekka has practical experience from building design and construction in Europe and in developing countries. During the past 20 years Pekka has actively contributed to leading international, research covering the areas of procurement systems, performance management, resource efficiency and the use of core indicators. Pella has an extensive international network covering different stakeholders in the real estate and construction sector. Bettina Heller is an Associate Expert in the United Nations Environment Programme’s Economy Division. Previously, Bettina led projects in the area of consumer information, in particular around product sustainability communication, eco-labelling and product lifetime extension. Before joining UNEP, Bettina worked in the area of green industry at UNIDO. Bettina completed her Master’s Degree in Global Studies at the University of Vienna (Austria), University of California, Santa Barbara (USA) and University of Wroclaw (Poland), and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Cultural and Business Studies from the University of Passau (Germany).

Mr Sanjay Kumar is an officer of Indian Railway Services of Signal Engineers (IRSSE) and presently working as CHIEF ENGINEER (SIGNAL & TELECOM) in Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (KMRCL) Kolkata, India. He is responsible for planning, International Competitive Bidding tendering, site execution , testing & commissioning including all mandatory approvals for the Kolkata East West Metro Rail (KMRCL) Project for the Signal & Telecom system, Automatic Fare Collection system , Platform Screen Door System & ISA work packages. Mr. Kumar is having over 24 years of experience in multi-functional range of Railway Engineering skills which includes planning, tendering, design, execution testing & commissioning and maintenance of Railway signal & Telecom systems in India and abroad. He has been leader for the complete execution of S&T enabling works of SGDET Malaysia project. He has acquired licenses such as Signaling designer & Verifier from IRSE London & construction license from CIDB, Malaysia. He has been instrumental in commissioning of India’s first Wi-Fi internet in running train (Howrah- Delhi Rajdhani express). He has also been instrumental in introducing 1st computer based Train Control charting system, real time train enquiry in Nagpur. Mr. Kumar is member of IRSE London, fellow member of IRSTE/India and Chartered Engineer from Institute of Engineers (India).

Farid Yaker is in charge of sustainable public procurement (SPP) at UN Environment, Economy division, Paris. He represents UNEP in the Coordination Desk of the 10YFP Public Procurement Programme and oversees the implementation of two ground projects aimed at assisting 16 countries in the implementation of SPP. Mr Yaker taught Agricultural economics at the University of Blida, Algeria from 1988 to 1990 before joining the international NGO Enda (Environmental development action) after the Rio summit that he attended in 1992. After managing an international programme on the promotion of participatory approaches in the field of urban environment from 1994 to 1999, Mr Yaker took the direction of the European office of Enda, from 2000 to 2007, before joining UNEP in 2008. Mr Yaker holds a Masters Degree in Agricultural economics from the University of California at Davis, USA.

Kirsten Gram-Hanssen is a Danish professor at Department of the Build Environment of Aalborg University in Copenhagen. She graduated Master from Department of Social Science at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in 1991 and in 1996 she was awarded a Ph.d. Her research is centered on housing, everyday life and consumption from a climate and energy perspective. Her research examines differences in household consumption practices and explains these differences within a perspective of theories of practice that emphasizes the importance of routines and technical infrastructures. Her research documents that the social organization of everyday lives means at least as much to the energy consumption of homes as the technical energy efficiency of buildings and appliances. She also researches how new technologies such as private photovoltaic systems and smart control of light and heat affect everyday life and energy consumption. She has been Guest researcher at foreign Universities, among others at Oxford University in 2017. She has also been invited keynote at several international conferences. She has contributed as evaluator for UK, Swedish and Norwegian Research Councils and as EU-expert in evaluating PF7 and ERC projects. Furthermore she is ”Member of European Research Council (ERC) identification committee”. Kirsten Gram-Hanssen has been project leader on major projects. Among others she has received a ERC Advanced Grant on 2,11 mill € for the project “eCAPE: New energy consumer roles and smart technologies – actors, practices and equality”.

Kate is an expert in sustainable consumption and behaviour change, with a deep commitment to promoting ways of living and organizing societies that are truly sustainable. Her work catalyzes innovative and highly ambitious interventions, through identifying and connecting people, ideas, and opportunities. She is a knowledge broker, advocating for the scientific legitimacy of social sciences in the climate debate, as well as for the essential role of individual behaviour change as a force for systemic change. Kate holds a Master´s degree in Gender, Anthropology & Development, and 20 years’ work experience in the non-profit sector as a network-builder, innovator and agent for change. Kate has 12 years of experience as a Sustainable Consumption Consultant, providing research, analysis, training and strategic thinking on sustainable living and social change. Clients have included the European Environment Agency, European Commission, Nordic Council of Ministers, Greenpeace Germany, KR Foundation and Climate Outreach. In addition to her current role as Development Lead at Hot or Cool Institute, she also has voluntary roles at Common Cause Foundation (Non-Executive Director) and SCORAI (Advisory Board).

Substantial professional experience working for UNFCCC Climate Technology Centre and Network hosted by UNEP, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Vietnam, UNDP Headquarters as well as the Danish Government on NAMA and MRV development, climate technology transfer, policy assessments and policy formulations, CDM project development and climate finance.

Jyoti has been working with UNEP DTU Partnership (UDP) since 1997 on a variety of issues on energy and environment. This includes energy economics and energy policy, energy efficiency, renewables, technology assessment, environmental economics and policy, and climate change issues. He has worked with several developing countries in Asia and Africa on these issues. Jyoti was Head of the Copenhagen Centre on Energy Efficiency at UNEP DTU from its inception in September 2013 till September 2016. Between 2011 and 2013, on leave from UNEP DTU, he was Chief Economic Advisor at Central Electricity Regulatory Commission, New Delhi, where he was responsible for providing inputs and advice to the Commission on various issues from an economic perspective. Prior to joining UNEP DTU, Jyoti was a faculty member at Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) at Mumbai. He also has a rich industry experience; he has worked with power plant equipment suppliers during the initial years of his career. One of Jyoti’s renewable energy financing projects in India won the Energy Globe Award in 2007 and the UN-21 Award for efficiency and effectiveness in 2008. Jyoti has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee, and a Doctorate in Management with specialization in the Energy Sector from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore.

Mark Lister has a diverse background in sustainability, finance and energy policy. After starting out in corporate banking Mark specialised in clean energy and energy efficiency issues and became a leading Australian energy efficiency advocate, working for both public and private sector entities. He founded cross-sectoral NGO the Australian Alliance to Save Energy, has worked on grassroots efficiency and renewables projects in sub-Saharan Africa, and has taught postgraduate sustainable energy courses. After four years in the Philippines with ADB working to facilitate and scale up climate technology and energy efficiency investments for countries in the Asia-Pacific region, Mark is now based at the Copenhagen Centre on Energy Efficiency, where he leads the Secretariat for the Global Energy Efficiency Accelerator Platform. The Platform is a flagship initiative of the UN-led Sustainable Energy for All Partnership which aims to connect city and country governments with private sector delivery partners and financiers to double the rate of global energy efficiency improvement by 2030.

Xianli’s work focuses on analysing and designing enabling policies and programmes for energy efficiency improvement and climate change mitigation. Her work focus has shifted to energy efficiency since 2015, and currently, she works on improving the transparency of climate actions in China, the monitoring, reporting and verification of district energy projects, as well as efficient cooling. She has coordinated the preparation of multiple reports and publications on best practices for energy efficiency improvement in different sectors and countries, high-impact opportunities for energy efficiency, as well as policies and potential for energy efficiency improvement in Africa. She has long-standing experience working on climate change mitigation, especially market mechanism and technology needs assessment. She has been involved in the implementation of multiple international technical assistance projects on energy efficiency, low-carbon development, technology needs assessment, and the Clean Development Mechanism as regional and national coordinator. In addition, she has in-country working experience (research, consultancy, project implementation) in China, Vietnam, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, Malawi, as well as Fiji, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, and Samoa. Xianli holds a PhD in Economics and she has been working at UNEP DTU Partnership (now UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre) since 2006, first as an economist and then as a senior researcher.

Aristeidis Tsakiris is a Mechanical Engineer with a MSc in Sustainable Energy from the Technical University of Denmark. Aristeidis started his career at a small consultancy company focused on energy efficient projects in the Balkans and Baltic areas. He currently works as Programme Officer, seeking to accelerate uptake of energy efficiency policies in emerging and developing economies. His main areas of expertise are energy savings in the building sector, energy Efficiency in the transport sector, and development of energy efficiency Knowledge Management Systems.

Djaheezah Subratty works as Head, Policy Unit, Energy, Climate, and Technology Branch Economy Division, UN Environment. Her work focuses on energy and climate mitigation policies in the area of feed-in tariffs, energy efficiency, decentralized systems, mitigation readiness and the Sustainable Energy for All initiative. She favours multi-stakeholder engagement approaches. She has close to twenty years of work experience in environment and sustainable development policy and planning, including the associated multilateral processes and extensive field experience. Prior to joining UNEP, Djaheezah worked for three years in environmental consulting in the private sector and for fifteen years in the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of Mauritius. She holds special interest in Small Island Developing States and in Sub-Saharan Africa, and contributes her developing country experience to the Branch's work program. She has a multidisciplinary background, with a Bsc in Chemistry and Environmental Studies, an Msc in International Trade and Economic Diplomacy and a post-graduate degree in Solid Waste Management. She is happy to interact in both English and French.

Nora Steurer is based at the Energy, Climate, and Technology Branch at UN Environment’s Economy Division in Paris. She focuses on energy efficiency and specifically on integrating energy efficiency into the 10-Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production (10YFP). She also works on enhancing sustainable energy access through women's entrepreneurship. Before joining UN Environment, Nora worked with the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (part of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment) on measuring sustainability and on land degradation issues. She also worked with the ILO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific and with the EU-funded SWITCH-Asia Programme on green jobs, eco-entrepreneurship, and on energy efficient economies and SMEs in Asia. Nora also has experience in strengthening sustainable business approaches and sustainable lifestyles, working with the Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production (CSCP). Nora holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Change and Management from the University of Oxford and a Magister degree (similar to a Bachelor and Master combined) in International Development from the University of Vienna. She completed her Bachelor degree in Economics while studying at the Universities of Vienna and Bonn.

Martina leads UN Environment's work on cities, coordinating the UN Environment wide offer to support cities and promote multi-level policy integration, and is in charge of the cooperation with other UN agencies and partners in the sustainable urban development space. Under her responsibility is also the work on buildings, with the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction, food systems, and the contributions to the respective programmes under the 10 Year Framework of Programmes. Martina has worked for UN Environment since 1999 in different substantive and management functions. Her areas of expertise include sustainable energy, transport, buildings, climate change, air quality and sustainable consumption and production.

Ghita is a climate finance expert, with 11 years’ experience working with the United Nations and financial institutions. Ghita is the International Finance Corporation (IFC) country officer for Morocco. Prior to joining IFC, Ghita was a Programme Officer at the Energy Finance Unit of the UN Environment Programme. She worked with project developers, governments, commercial and development banks. Ghita’s focus was on developing institutional capacity, Public Private Partnerships, climate-related project and strategies for the uptake of renewable energy and energy efficiency for the Mediterranean region and Sub-Saharan Africa. Ghita holds a MSc in Auditing, Management Accounting & Information Systems from Skema Business School and a master’s degree in corporate finance.
