EVENT: Launch - TCO Certified, generation 8
WHAT: Launch - TCO Certified, generation 8
WHEN: 4 December 2018
WHERE: Brussels, Belgium
TCO Certified, generation 8 encourages a circular approach to the production and consumption of IT products by demanding durable products that can be repaired, upgraded and recycled. It takes a large step forward in supply chain responsibility with sharper criteria, increased monitoring in high risk factories and by following up on corrective action plans in an even more efficient way. TCO Certified, generation 8 is also designed to help organizations contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Objectives of the event
To drive further progress toward a sustainable life cycle for IT products.
For purchasers - a leadership, independent certification they can use as a tool in their contracting to specify IT products that are designed in accordance with social /supply chain and environmentally responsible principles. Compliance with all criteria is independently verified, at the product, factory and brand owner levels.
For the IT industry - a structured, independently verified set of criteria that help guide more responsible production and facilitate meeting purchaser sustainability needs. Certifying products is also a validation of sustainability claims and progress.
TCO Certified
TCO Certified generation 8, will allow for the IT product ecosystem, including purchasers and the industry, to take the next significant steps toward a more circular, sustainable pattern of production and consumption.
