Educational Competency videos

Education is key to achieving the SDGs.

In 2020 due to the pandemic, all public events were cancelled in Norway. As a result, CCL was not able to provide training workshops to teacher, as was done in previous year.

In order to still reach our target group, in-service teachers in Norway, CCL had to think alternatively. CCL decided to create a series of six Norwegian educational videos to strengthen school development and capacity building within education for sustainable development in teachers in Norway. Two of the videos are introductory videos that explore the pedagogical and didactic framework. They also show how teachers and schools can work when they are planning interdisciplinary teaching. The other four videos are instructional videos based on activities from our Active Learning Toolkit series. These videos show concrete examples on how teachers can use the toolkits and the flexibility they provide for different age groups.

Based on the successful completion and dissemination of the six developed videos in 2020, it was decided to create five more videos in 2021. Of these, three are instructional videos based on activities from our Active Learning Toolkit series. These videos show concrete examples on how teachers can use the toolkits, but also offers alternative uses and adjustments for younger and older age groups. The last two videos focus on the pedagogical and didactic framework that supports activities for student participation and engagement in their own learning processes within their school and local community.

The videos have been created as a response to Norway’s new national curriculum and will support teachers and schools as they seek ways to integrate the three interdisciplinary topics highlighted through the new curriculum; Sustainable development; Democracy and Citizenship; Public Health and Life skills.
