Dissemination of digital podcasts and masterclasses on sustainability & resilience

  • Published on January 14, 2021
The key objective of the project activity is to 'reimagine and rebuild our world', through 'relevant and practical' solutions that meet real needs of the people (individuals, families, neighborhoods and communities), and achieving this through building community resilience during and after covid. We want to build the capacities of individuals as well as communities on future preparedness vis-à-vis ecological issues, as Covid and Climate crisis together is presenting an unprecedented threat to human life and misery. These podcasts and masterclasses focus on the need for community resilience through environmental conservation, environmental justice and environmental action, and also focus on 'green' stimulus going forward. Through the facilitation of these digital mediums, our objective is to build a more resilient and well-prepared community that would be able to anticipate and address climate crisis threats and public health emergencies, on a more immediate basis. Each of these podcasts and webinars engage citizens on the best practices and policies that can be implemented at local levels to tackle immediate problems, as well as address the need for global advocacy in environmental issues.
Swechha is currently facilitating a series of 6 online podcasts and 5 DIY masterclasses on a fortnightly basis, over the course of 6 months. These focus on the need for community resilience through environmental conservation, environmental justice and environmental action, and also focus on 'green' stimulus going forward. Each of these podcasts and webinars engage citizens on the best practices and policies that can be implemented at local levels to tackle immediate problems, as well as address the need for global advocacy in environmental issues. These digital podcasts and webinars are being conducted in partnership with leading experts, practitioners and organizations that have been working in the fields of environmental conservation, environmental justice, and environmental action through community engagement and advocacy. A variety of issues related to climate change, co-relation between environment and health, sustainable and responsible consumption, environmental threats to communities and ways to mitigate them as first responders, would be addressed through these online sessions. Each of these podcasts and masterclasses are conducted in the form of informal discussions, talks/lecture series and formal panel discussions. At present, Swechha has conducted 3 podcasts and a DIY Masterclass, each focused on themes related to environment policy shaping, law and governance, river pollution, organic farming and urban gardening. We have received an overwhelming response of over 400+ digital audience members engagement globally, on each of our podcasts and masterclasses. We have also been monitoring success stories being implemented in targeted communities, as well as questions and feedback through surveys and google forms, designed for our digital audience.
