UNESCO’s Trash Hack campaign encourages young people to take action against waste to promote sustainable development, reflect on their actions, and share their learnings. 

The Trash Hack campaign encourages young people to take action against waste to promote sustainable development, reflect on their actions, and share their learnings. Much of the actions promoted by the campaign center source reduction of waste which often involves sustainable consumption. To help achieve waste reduction among targeted populations, the Trash Hack campaign promotes a series of information and tools for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) which empower people to reflect upon their consumption, tackle the problems of waste, and fight the climate crisis. ESD helps people to rethink what we learn, where we learn and how we learn, which enables people develops the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes that enable them to make informed decisions and actions on global problems.
