  • Published on February 14, 2023

The purpose of this project is to figure out and experiment how we can bring existing One Planet Network expertise and tools to support Senegal on Sustainable Public Procurement implementation. This project could be used as a model of mobilization of One Planet Network partners in support of countries.

The objective of this project is to strengthen the institutional and technical capacities of Senegal in order to create an enabling environment for SCP, within the framework of the implementation of the ten-year program for SCP and the implementation of the SDG 12.

Specifically, these are:

• support the achievement of these key factors by also taking into account the progress made and Senegal's initiatives in terms of the green and circular economy;

• put in place institutional mechanisms with a mandate on SCP;

• develop policy frameworks and instruments and/or strengthen the existing ones in terms of SCP with the support of UNEP and the support of the Switch Africa Green project which offers a lot of experience, lessons to be learned and possibilities for action contact details.

In Senegal, the implementation of the project revolved around the three (3) major activities or components listed below:

• Integration of the SCP agenda through inter-ministerial coordination, multi-stakeholder dialogue and capacity building;

• Development and adoption of a national strategy for sustainable consumption and production

• Steering of a strategic and cost-effective policy instrument in the context of national priorities articulated around Sustainable Public Procurement (SPP)

This report describes the various activities implemented by the project, from April 2020 to December 2021.
