Envisioning Future Low-Carbon Lifestyles and Transitioning Instruments Project Phase II "Analysis and Proposal of the Future Scenario for Sustainable Lifestyles for Climate Change Mitigation""

The project will identify opportunities of low-carbon lifestyles and develop city-level lifestyle scenarios through a combination of quantitative analysis and household participatory process. The project is built on the scientific methodology established in the "1.5-Degree Lifestyles: Targets and options for reducing lifestyle carbon footprints" and findings from the project Phase I. Case studies in the project will include several cities in Brazil, India, South Africa, Thailand, and Japan.
1. Mainstreaming low-carbon lifestyle options • Country-specific low-carbon options will be identified, showing the impact of various options and contextualizing them within overall carbon footprints 2. Implementing citizens workshops and household experiments • A participatory process will be developed whereby households will develop and implement their own sustainability pathway 3. Developing scenarios and policy recommendations • Scenarios and policy recommendations will be developed drawing from experiments with and experiences of households living using the low-carbon options 4. Communication campaign • The outputs of the project will be fully publicized with the aim of further engaging the general public across the world The potentials of lifestyle changes to climate change mitigation are demonstrated, and decarbonised lifestyles are disseminated to the public and stakeholders. 1) Country-specific low-carbon lifestyle options are identified 2) Citizens workshops and household experiments are implemented 3) Scenarios and policy recommendations are developed 4) Communication campaigns are and implemented
