  • Published on November 30, 2018
The Rainforest Alliance is a growing network of farmers, foresters, communities, scientists, governments, environmentalists, and businesses dedicated to conserving biodiversity and ensuring sustainable livelihoods. We are an international non-profit organization working to build strong forests, healthy agricultural landscapes, and thriving communities through creative, pragmatic collaboration.
The Rainforest Alliance was a pioneer in third-party sustainable tourism recognition, working with hotels, inbound and outbound tour operators, and other tourism businesses to help them improve their environmental, social, and economic practices. The Rainforest Alliance is providing in-person trainings and has developed online training materials for best practices in sustainable agriculture, sustainable tourism, REDD , and Rainforest Alliance Certified™ Claims, Traceability, and Trademarks. In 2016, Rainforest Alliance provided in-person training on sustainable tourism and business practices to at least 100 small tourism companies, and online training to staff from at least 40 tourism MSMEs, reaching a minimum of 250 employees.
