IDF Dairy Sustainability Outlook n1

The International Dairy Federation annual Dairy Sustainability Outlook aims at providing a viewpoint on sustainable development of relevant importance for the dairy sector. The outlook is a worldwide journey through the field of sustainability and provides an opportunity to share ongoing projects and up-to-date research.
The contribution of milk and dairy products production, processing and consumption to achieve nutrition and socio-economic improvement goals is widely recognized. The dairy sector has been acknowledged or its leading role in sustainable practices for several years. Finding new ways to reduce its impact on environment, manage resources efficiently and increase its benefits to biodiversity and bio-economy is a crucial part of the commitment of the sector for continous improvement. Sustainable development in the dairy sector is an urgent matter that depends on collaborative efforts from international organizations, governments, the private and public sectors, as well as individuals. The dairy sector is strongly committed to supporting sustainable development by supporting livelihoods, nutrition, environment, economies and empowerment of rural women. IDF recognizes the challenge and importance of providing dairy sector with relevant information to join the conversation. This publication aims at providing a yearly report on sustainable development of importance for the dairy sector. The different contributions provide a summary of main results, outcomes and key messages, the alignment with the SDGs, and the importance of the topic for the dairy sector. The first part of this report aims at informing IDF members of ongoing national initiatives on sustainability with important for the dairy sector and the achievement of SDGs (on environment, health, and socio-economic perspective). The second part of the report aims at providing a roundup on IDF’s involvement on global sustainability initiatives. The third part provides an overview of external research and includes PhD reports, scientific opinions, other research, outcomes from scientific meetings, etc. These publication contains a 11 contributions: - News from IDF Member Countries: 1.
