WEBINAR: Promoting Partnerships and Synergies for Food Loss and Waste Reduction

The SFS Programme will organise a webinar on ‘Promoting Partnerships and Synergies for Food Loss and Waste Reduction’ on 20th September 2018, featuring presentations from organisations whose food loss and waste (FLW) activities are open to collaboration with other actors. The webinar will be conducted in two sessions, one in English and the second in Spanish. SFS Programme members, partners of the One Planet (10YFP) network, as well as external partners are invited to attend.

Presenters in the English session

World Wide Fund for Nature International (WWF) will present ‘Hotel Kitchen’ an initiative in the US to identify innovative strategies to reduce food waste in the hospitality industry. Opportunities for partnership and scaling up at local, national and global level will be presented. For further information: www.hotelkitchen.org

OzHarvest will present ‘Fight food waste’, an initiative that aims to tackle food waste in Australia through awareness raising, issue-led documentaries and a digital campaign.  The presentation will identify opportunities to expand the initiative globally, engaging consumers to take action, activated by multi-sector partnerships from local and national governments, the private sector, community groups, universities and other actors. FAO will present the global Community of Practice (CoP), a dynamic web-platform that serves as a convener and integrator of knowledge on post-harvest management and food loss reduction. The presentation will identify opportunities arising from current efforts to broaden the scope of the CoP, enlarge its partnership base and foster synergies with relevant platforms.
