About my work

Ryu Koide is a researcher with the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES), Japan. His research focuses on the quantitative research on the transition towards decarbonized and circular societies utilizing the methodologies of industrial ecology including Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Material Flow Analysis (MFA). He has a strong emphasis on the interdisciplinary approach, in particular, an integrated research of industrial ecology, policy sciences, and data science, aiming at uncovering the shape of societies including consumer lifestyles and provision systems towards Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP). His recent research topics include scenario development of the transition of consumption patterns considering the planetary boundaries, integrated analysis of life cycle environmental impacts and the quality of life to uncover the shape of sustainable societies, and the policy design research towards SCP and sustainable lifestyles.
