About my work

Koide is a policy researcher at Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), a sustainability think tank leading the research on Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) in Asia. His background is resources and environmental engineering as well as development studies with experience as a consulting engineer specialised in waste management and the 3Rs in Asia, Africa, and South America area. His recent research work includes quantitative analysis of a questionnaire survey of national governments on SCP policy-making, development of a typology of SCP policies, development of a monitoring and evaluation framework for sustainable lifestyle projects, and examination of the roles of international development assistance for the implementation of SDGs and promoting the shift towards SCP. He is a member of Coordination Desk of the 10YFP Sustainable Lifestyles and Education (SLE) Programme.
