About my work
Dr Anna Spenceley is a consultant focusing on sustainable tourism who has worked for over 20 years in developing countries on assignments promoting conservation and poverty reduction. Anna is Chair of the IUCN's World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA) Tourism and Protected Areas Specialist Group. She sits on the board of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), and sites on the GSTC’s Destination working group, and is a GSTC Trainer. She is also a Senior Research Fellow with the University of Johannesburg, and an Honorary Fellow of the University of Brighton. Anna is has a substantial publication record on sustainable tourism, including ‘The Responsible Tourism’ – an e-book which helps travellers find sustainable holidays - and edited the book volumes "Responsible Tourism: Critical issues for Conservation and Development" and “Tourism and poverty reduction: Impacts and principles in developing countries”.Areas of expertise
