Commitments:

In the framework of the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative, the Sustentur commits to:
 
  • Encouraging at least 60 tourism organisations to join the GTPI by 2025. Through their project with GIZ, Sustentur we will invite hotels from the Caribbean and Mexico to join the GTPI, before continuing to raise awareness of the GTPI among other companies in Mexico and Latin America
  • Providing training and technical advice to partner organisations. Sustentur aims to inform at least 100 people on the GTPI and provide technical assistance via their initiatives to at least 50 organisations by 2025
  • Working with UNWTO, UNEP and GIZ to generate information for hotels and design specific campaigns via the Sustentur media platforms (social networks, newsletters, Sustainable & Social Tourism Summit) to publicise the GTPI and above all the relevance of implementing actions to reduce plastics in the sector
  • Communicating successes via social media
  • Reporting publicly and annually on progress made towards these targets
With the signing of the Glasgow Decalration, Sustentur is committed to become an ally to amplify the message of the need to take action on climate change in the tourism sector, especially in Mexico and Latin America, as well as to invite our allies to become signatories of the Declaration; in our daily work, we commit to support the signatories companies to develop action plans and ambitious goals to reduce and offset their CO2 emissions and to strengthen their adaptation capacities based on nature based solutions and ecosystem based adaptation.
