Southasia Institute of Advanced Studies (SIAS)
Southasia Institute of Advanced Studies (SIAS) is a research institute aspiring to become the ‘Centre of Excellence’ in South Asia led by a vibrant team of academics and researchers of national and international repute. It was established in 2011 as a platform for advanced research, policy engagement and scholarly exchange in the South Asia region. SIAS operates in the interface of research, policy and practice on the issues related to policy change, governance and environment.
The scope of its research and engagements encompasses broad thematic areas of Local Governance, Natural Resource Governance and Resilience Building within which interdisciplinary subject are covered including ecosystem services, climate change adaptation and mitigation policies, urbanization, disaster risk reduction, environmental justice, forestry and REDD , hydropower and water security. It specializes in research, scholarly publications and seminar series in order to fill the critical gap in knowledge generation and capacity strengthening to address social and environmental challenges through informed decision making, implementing proven practice and formulating its policies.
