RETHINK2GETHER / GLASGOW DECLARATION Rethink2gether is proud to sign the Glasgow Declaration and is committed to ensure climate action, not only in its operations, but also for our clients in the tourism and hospitality industry. According to the Project Drawdown, reducing food waste is the most powerful climate solution. We namely commit to reduce food waste by 50% by 2030, and to become carbon-neutral at the same time. We commit to report publicly both progress against interim and long-term targets, as well as the actions being taken, at least annually. To ensure aligned climate action, we agree on five shared pathways for our plans to follow: - MEASURE > Measure and disclose all travel and tourism-related emissions > Measure and disclose all food waste generated > Ensure our methodologies and tools are aligned to UNFCCC guidelines and the Food Loss and Waste Standard - DECARBONIZE > Support the tourism and hospitality industry accelerate tourism’s decarbonisation > Food Waste target = 50% food waste reduction (aligned with SDG 12.3) = 40 g per cover by 2030 > Carbon target = Net Zero emissions by 2030 (offsetting being complementary to real reductions) - REGENERATE > Restore and protect ecosystems, supporting nature’s ability to draw down carbon > Support food rescue organizations to increase food security > Help visitors and host communities respect food and experience better balance with nature. - COLLABORATE > Share evidence of risks and solutions with all stakeholders > Work with industry associations to ensure our plans are as effective and co-ordinated as possible. > Advocate with local, provincial and federal governments to increase ambitions to prevent food waste - FINANCE > Ensure organisational resources and capacity are sufficient to meet objectives set out in climate plans > Provide training to reduce food waste to any new team member > Implement effective tools where appropriate to accelerate transition. We commit to deliver plans aligned with these pathways to cut food waste and tourism emissions in half over the next decade and reach carbon neutrality. ----------- "Reducing food waste is a tasty way to save money while leverage the most powerful climate action" Ben Liegey, CEO of Rethink2gether https://www.rethink2gether.com
