Porto Lounge Hostel & Guesthouse, founded in 2011, is located in a typical 18th century building, completely restored and modernized, situated in the heart of the historic center of Porto, Portugal. They aim to create unique and lasting relationships between all who visit them providing a unique experience in a familiar environment.

Porto Lounge Hostel & Guesthouse is a company with well-defined ethical values, it is the company's mission to reduce and minimize its environmental impact during the activity and to play a key role in environmental and social sustainability issues, constantly seeking value in its employees as well as in everyone who interacts with the company. The company intends to assert itself as a global model company to follow and able to make a difference by looking for clear examples of sustainability and regular support to small value chains through local suppliers. Its objective is to be able to provide its customers with a unique and differentiated experience and show its customers its values and how important they are to society.

Commitments:

In the framework of the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative, Porto Lounge Hostel & Guesthouse commits to: 

  • Eliminating plastic packaging, plastic items, single-portion or single-serving packaging, containers for cleaning products, and cling films from their food and drink services by 2023. 

  • Eliminating plastic packaging and plastic items from their logistics by 2023. 

  • Eliminating plastic packaging, plastic items and single-portion or single-serving packaging from their cleaning services by 2024. 

  • Eliminating plastic bags from their suppliers by 2024. 

  • Introducing reusable solutions to replace plastic packaging, plastic items and containers for cleaning products in their kitchens by 2025. 

  • Introducing reusable solutions to replace plastic packaging and containers for cleaning products in their service areas by 2025. 

  • Engaging the value chain to provide data on recyclability and compostability of plastic packaging to facilitate the move towards 100% of plastic packaging to be reusable, recyclable, or compostable by 2025.

  • Taking action to increase the amount of recycled content across all plastic packaging and items used by 2025. 

  • Collaborating with others and investing in the collection and segregation of recyclable and organic materials in their facilities to help increase recycling and composting rates in practice.
