Mujeres En Turismo Chile

Role in programme(s):

Commitments:

Mujeres en Turismo Chile is a collaborative network that seeks to facilitate connections, national and international alliances; strengthen the capacities of businesswomen, entrepreneurs and professionals and make visible the leadership and experiences of women in tourism industry. In this context and in keeping with our mission, which is to lead a more humane, collaborative and sustainable tourism, Mujeres en Turismo Chile declares itself in a state of climate emergency to take measures to reduce carbon emissions. According to the advice of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, IPCC, global carbon dioxide emissions should be reduced to 55% by 2030 and tourism must assume its responsibility and take immediate action to achieve this purpose collectively. For this reason, as an organization we have committed to the following five actions: 1. Develop a "Climate Action Plan" within the next 12 months, setting out our intentions to reduce carbon emissions over the next decade. 2. Publicly declare our commitment, sharing our "Climate Action Plan", updating its progress every year. 3. Reduce our emissions significantly in accordance with the minimums required by and in our "Climate Action Plan", including actions to achieve it, establishing a system for identifying and measuring emissions from our activities as an organization. 4. Motivate our networks to join this statement, sharing good practices and making these efforts visible. 5. Advocate for change, recognizing the need for a system change across the tourism sector to accelerate a just transition to low-emission tourism.
