Global Family Travels

Role in programme(s):

Commitments:

As a planet, we have about one decade left to take meaningful action addressing the climate crisis in order to avoid irreversible changes and harm to many of earth’s natural systems. If we do not act quickly, warming temperatures across the globe will continue altering landscapes and threatening local cities and communities with tragic consequences. We all bear responsibility for addressing climate change and reaching the Net Zero emissions goal before 2050. This includes individual travelers and the travel industry, both of whom must be active participants in achieving such a lofty benchmark. The tourism industry is highly vulnerable to climate change, and at the same time contributes to the emission of greenhouse gases (GHG), one of the causes of global warming. The travel and tourism industry, which has for so long relied upon the hospitality of communities worldwide, has a responsibility now more than ever, to step up and respond to the increasing challenges of climate change. Global Family Travels' vision is to unite humanity and inspire travelers to take responsibility for the challenges and opportunities facing our increasingly inter-connected planet. Our mission is to provide authentic community-based Learn, Serve and Immerse travel experiences, as means to foster cross-cultural understanding, destination stewardship and global citizens. Using tourism to help solve community challenges, we furthermore commit to developing more regenerative travel opportunities in partnership with local and global non-profit organizations that support destination stewardship and many local and global communities. These family-friendly, educational trips support many United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including life on land and water, quality education, gender equality, and the preservation of diverse and indigenous cultures. Global Family Travels is dedicated to helping the travelers we serve take meaningful action to protect the environment, whether that it is by organizing trips to help tackle global challenges, planning adventures closer to home that support and protect the environment and local cultures, or finding alternative modes of transportation to minimize emissions. We are open to collaborating with travel industry colleagues and tourism organizations as we believe in the power of partnership to achieve this critically important journey to protect the planet while continuing to explore it. We support the global commitment to halve emissions by 2030 and reach Net Zero as soon as possible before 2050. We will consistently align our actions with the latest scientific recommendations, so as to ensure our approach remains consistent with a rise of no more than 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels by 2100. We are we are being given an unprecedented opportunity right now to address how tourism can help our climate emergency, to drive more sustainable experiences and to create awareness among travelers how to reduce our carbon footprints.
