Fundación Water Sports Plastic Free

The Fundación Water Sports Plastic Free aims to get all water sports federations to unite and commit to the non-use of single-use plastics. This includes getting the maximum number of water sports events to stop using single-use plastics to obtain the WSPF seal in order to ensure that 50 nautical clubs and sports marinas in Spain join their objectives.

The Fundación Water Sports Plastic Free avoid the use of single-use plastics in the events they organise by working with catering companies that avoid single-use plastics and ensure the use of water fountains and refillable bottles. The organisation works to generate synergies with other environmental organizations in order to help achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDA).  

The Fundación Water Sports Plastic Free provides environmental training to increase awareness during sports events, as well as environmental advice and consulting t companies in the maritime and coastal sector. 

Commitments:

In the framework of the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative, Fundación Water Sports Plastic Free commits to:

  • Creating an environmental audit to confirm that single-use plastics are not being used and waste is suitably managed.   
  • Avoiding single-use plastics in all their events and discouraging single-use plastics at external events. 
  • Providing training, education and environmental awareness activities at their events.  
  • Encouraging coastal councils to be ecologically sustainable and, emphasizing the removal of single-use plastics in all areas.  
  • Bringing together 50 nautical clubs and sports marinas in Spain to join the Foundation’s activities 
  • Carrying out educational talks and training, open to the general public and especially targeted at citizens and visitors from coastal towns.
