Europa mundo

Europamundo is a tour operator and a company of the JTB group, the largest company of tourism and travel in Asia. Europamundo aims to foster responsible tourism and transmit the importance of appreciating and caring for our surroundings, including the lands we live on, the different cultures, and their different ways of living.

At its office, Europamundo has an integrated waste management system, for recycling all types of waste, including plastics. The organisation raises awareness among its stakeholders (partners, employees, suppliers, customers) on the importance of sustainable and responsible tourism through webinars, workshops, social media, and their website. They encourage their partners to participate and engage with initiatives such as the signing of the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism (UNWTO). Through the Europamundo Foundation, Europamundo funds and supports projects around the world connected to environmental protection, climate change mitigation, and the circular economy.

Commitments:

In the framework of the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative, Europamundo commits to:
  • Encouraging their affiliated organisations and businesses or partners to join the GTPI by communicating the environmental measures they are carrying out, such as the elimination of plastics in their buses, and the recycling of 100% of plastics in the office. They want to do this through their sustainability report, social media, website, and annual meetings with their collaborators and partners
  • Advising and guiding affiliated organisations and businesses or partners to better manage plastics in their operations by helping them to implement and report on CO2 emission reduction measures and by holding a waste recycling workshop.
  • Communicating successes to partners, suppliers, travellers, and key local stakeholders by promoting the elimination of plastics, replacement by reusable models, and recycling (as at last option) through workshops, sharing good practices and supporting their collaborators within the GTPI.

We declare our commitment to join efforts to transform tourism and make an effective contribution to climate action. We support the global commitment to halve emissions by 2030, reach the net zero emissions before 2050 and to ensure that by 2100, temperatures do not rise more than 1.5ºC above pre-industrial levels. To achieve these goals, we have been calculating and offsetting our GHG emissions since 2015 (so we are carbon neutral), comunicating it, rising awarness among our stakeholders, align our CSR strategy with the 2030 Agenda and working with international organizations for a sustainable and responsible tourism. We are signatories of the “Principles for a Sustainable Ocean” and committed to “Business Ambition for 1,5ºC” with UN Global Compact.
