CASARTERO ECO POSADA

CasArtero Eco Posada - Hotel Sustentable is offering a hotel activity and service of quality in San Rafael, Mendoza - in Argentina while adopting a sustainable management system, using renewable energies and new construction systems, and respecting the natural and socio-cultural environment they are interacting with. They have already banned the use of plastic in their bathrooms and for their breakfasts since the beginning of their activity in 2019.

Commitments:

In the framework of the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative, CasArtero Eco Posada - Hotel Sustentable commits to: 

  • Eliminating plastic packaging, single portion or single-serving packaging, and cling films from their food and drink services by 2025. 
  • Eliminating plastic packaging, single portion or single-serving packaging, and cling films from their kitchens by 2025. 
  • Eliminating plastic items and containers for cleaning products from their cleaning services by 2025. 
  • Eliminating plastic utensils and single-use straws and avoiding using plastic bags or wrappers when buying in bulk in their food and beverage services by 2025. 
  • Realizing an awareness campaign towards consumers about the problem of plastic and its consequences to strengthen the concept of responsible tourism. 
  • Introducing reusable solutions to replace plastic packaging, plastic items, and cling films in their bathrooms by 2021.
  • Introducing reusable solutions to replace plastic packaging and cling films in their kitchens by 2024.
  • Introducing reusable solutions to replace plastic packaging in their logistics by 2024.
  • Engaging the value chain to provide data on recyclability and compostability of plastic packaging to facilitate the move towards 100% of plastic packaging to be reusable, recyclable, or compostable by 2025 by establishing procurement criteria on reusability, recyclability, and compostability as well as a 2025 target on % of plastic packaging to be reusable, recyclable, or compostable. 
  • Taking action to increase the amount of recycled content across all plastic packaging and items used by 2025 by establishing procurement criteria on % of recycled content in packaging and items, as well as a target of % of recycled content in packaging and items by 2025. 
  • Collaborating with others and investing in the collection and segregation of recyclable and organic materials in their facilities to help increase recycling and composting rates in practice by providing proper training and means for staff to sort solid waste (especially plastic waste), according to local regulations, sustainability standards, and/or technical guidance from waste management service provider and by investing resources ($, time, personnel) to promote innovation that results in increased recycling rates, either through actions at own operation or elsewhere in the process.
