Casa voyage hostel in Chile is a space that seeks to deliver the possibility to travelers of not only being part of local traditions but also being involved in the development of social projects, just by the contribution of their accommodation.

Commitments:

In the framework of the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative, Casa Voyage Hostel commits to: 

  • Eliminating plastic packaging from their rooms by 2021. 

  • Eliminating plastic items from their bathrooms by 2021. 

  • Eliminating containers for cleaning products from their cleaning services by 2022. 

  • Introducing reusable solutions to replace containers for cleaning products in their cleaning services by 2022. 

  • Introducing reusable solutions to replace plastic items in their kitchens by 2023. 

  • Introducing reusable solutions to replace cling films in their logistics by 2022. 

  • Engaging the value chain to provide data on recyclability and compostability of plastic packaging to facilitate the move towards 100% of plastic packaging to be reusable, recyclable, or compostable by 2025 by establishing procurement criteria on reusability, recyclability, and compostability. 

  • Taking action to increase the amount of recycled content across all plastic packaging and items used by 2025 by establishing procurement criteria on % of recycled content in packaging and items. 

  • Collaborating with others investing in the collection and segregation of recyclable and organic materials in their facilities to help increase recycling and composting rates in practice by providing proper training and means for staff to sort solid waste (especially plastic waste), according to local regulations, sustainability standards, and/or technical guidance from the waste management service provider.
