CAF has decided to include tourism in its new portfolio of services, to do so from a change of perspective, moving beyond the focus on economic growth to focusing on development. Tourism, seen solely as a means to achieve economic growth implies overlooking its potential to generate equitable and sustainable results in the short and long term, to promote processes for building territory identity and inclusive and democratic societies, and to preserve and enhance the value of the natural, creative and cultural heritage of a region. Tourism is an opportunity for sustainable development.
