At Byway, all the trips we sell are 100% flight-free, thus using less carbon than most holidays that currently exist on the market, and we are leading a paradigm shift to bring back journey-based holidays and to make slow travel mainstream. We measure our impact by calculating the carbon saving of taking our flight-free trip vs. the same trip if flights were used. We prioritise sustainable accommodation and activities including those with locally-sourced food and renewable energy and gather data from partners around their environmental credentials. We track the carbon impact of our holidays due to rail/boat/bus travel, accommodation and activities and have carbon reduction and offsetting plans in place for ourselves and our suppliers. Finally, we are investing in building the technology that will allow the sector to scale, and for other brands to work with us and make use of our slow travel tech, helping the industry to make the shift as well as Byway.
