Asociación Nacional de Cadenas Hoteleras - Hoteles por México

The Asociación Nacional de Cadenas Hoteleras - Hoteles por México operates in Mexico.

Role in programme(s):

In the framework of the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative, the Asociación Nacional de Cadenas Hoteleras - Hoteles por México commits to:

  • Encouraging affiliated organisations and businesses or partners to join the GTPI by showcasing its advantages (i.e. highlighting the reduction of operational costs, the impact to their local ecosystem, and public image). To facilitate successful participation, a comprehensive introduction to the Initiative will be provided, allowing hotel chains to gain an in-depth understanding of its objectives and benefits; a brief introduction will be delivered during the Sustainable and Social Tourism Summit in August 2023. To ensure widespread awareness and engagement, regular communication channels such as newsletters and social media platforms will be utilized.

  • The ANCH will target encouraging 10 hotel chains affiliated to the Association to join the GTPI by 2024.

  • Advising and guiding affiliated organizations, businesses or partners to better manage plastics in their operations by providing access to technical resources. The ANCH has planned two webinars for hotel employees in 2024, featuring industry experts; these webinars will be a platform for equipping over 275,000 employees with insights into the new plastic policies and their obligations to actively contribute to the Initiative's success. Hotel staff will become well-versed in sustainable practices and the significance of minimizing plastic usage, thus fostering a culture of environmental consciousness within the industry. Each hotel chain will also be encouraged to develop their unique strategies aligned with the common vision of the Initiative.

  • Communicating successes to affiliated organizations and partners via social media, website, and newsletters.

  • Reporting publicly and annually on progress made towards these targets.
