The One Planet Network Forum is a platform for cooperation and thought leadership - convened this year with the Government of Brazil during the G20 - to accelerate the implementation of the Global Strategy on Sustainable Consumption and Production and SDG12.

The document outlines key action areas, taking into account national circumstances, needs and priorities of each country, from the 2024 One Planet Network Forum and recognizes the importance of interventions implemented through the 10YFP as catalytic to accelerate social inclusion, sustainability and circularity, in high impact sectors.
GIB Annex 1 Leaders Declaration
The main outcome of the GIB is a set of agreed High-Level Principles on Bioeconomy, which is an integral part of the Rio Declaration adopted by G20 leaders at the end of the Brazilian Presidency.

The ‘Museu do Amanhã’ (Museum of Tomorrow) is an innovative science museum designed by neo-futuristic architect Santiago Calatrava and is focused on solutions for challenges and opportunities facing humanity. The OPN Forum will be held under the overarching theme of ‘Reducing inequalities and achieving just transitions for all through sustainable consumption and production, including circular economy’.
This two-day event promises to be an immersive experience on concrete solutions for reducing inequalities and fostering just transitions for all through sustainable consumption and production, with a spotlight on the transformative power of the circular economy.
Regional Consultation on the Global Circularity Protocol for Business

The Global Circularity Protocol for Business (GCP) is a business-led initiative spearheaded by the WBCSD in collaboration with the One Planet Network Secretariat (OPN) which presents a comprehensive framework to accelerate the transition towards a circular economy. It is a voluntary framework that aims to address key accountability and policy gaps currently impeding the scaling of circularity globally.
Intentionally Designing Sustainable Consumption and Production Policies and Practices to Reduce Inequalities
Presented to the One Planet Forum 2024 and developed the by the International Resource Panel at the request of the 10YFP Secretariat, this paper advocates for sustainable consumption and production systems to be intentionally designed to reduce inequalities and promote equitable, just outcomes. It urges the One Planet Network and its partners to integrate equality, equity, and justice into global, national, and local SCP initiatives and policies.

The Forum is structured as a platform for cooperation and thought leadership
Thematic sessions
The Forum will feature nine thematic sessions created by strategic partners of the One Planet Network. These sessions will showcase solutions on:
Public and private finance for socially effective investments
Creating opportunities for all through green skills and decent jobs
Empowering the informal sector and enhancing social protection through circular economy
Securing environmental and human health and addressing obstacles to development through circular and fair value chains
Advancing a sustainable built environment that reduces vulnerabilities through inclusive approaches
The role of cities and local governments in promoting well-being, sustainable consumption, and lifestyles.
Solutions for effective product sustainability information to consumers
Unlocking the barriers to sustainable food systems transformation
Agora Exhibition Space
- An Exhibition Space, showcasing 15 organisations’ work, including innovative Brazilian partners, through informative booth displays,
- A Stage Corner, enabling interactive presentations and discussions with the Forum’s audience.
High-level segment
Featuring dialogues amongst ministers, senior policymakers, global business leaders and prominent representatives from major organizations, the high-level segment will focus on key solutions to reduce inequalities though sustainable consumption and production, including though implementing circular economy approaches.
The outcome of the OPN Forum will be a document of key messages that will be presented to the G-20 process, the Summit of the Future, and the 7th Session of the UN Environment Assembly.
Plenary discussions
The Forum will comprise three plenary sessions which will provide an opportunity to explore pressing themes related to the Sustainable Consumption and Production agenda, including:
- Towards a global circularity protocol for businesses: Mobilizing commitment to implement and measure circular economy approaches
- Achieving Well-Being, Reducing Inequalities and Transforming Consumption through Circular Policies and Solutions
- Advancing Bioeconomy as an Enabler for Sustainable Consumption and Production
Planned plenary sessions will discuss ‘reducing inequalities and achieving just transitions for all through circular economy’, steps ‘towards a global circularity protocol for business’, and more as we discuss the way forward to addressing challenge with opportunities.
