Increasing the availability of reliable information to guide consumers’ decision-making is crucial to help accelerate the world’s transition towards more Sustainable Consumption and Production policies and practices. This has been internationally recognized in the Sustainable Development Goals through target 12.8. In 2018, the Consumer Information Programme embarked on a journey with 28 companies and standard-setting organizations from all regions to road test 10 principles on how to communicate reliably to consumers. 28 road testers self-assessed a multitude of different product sustainability claims in this exercise, recounting their good practices and their challenges.

The webinar under the One Planet network Consumer Information Programme launches the report 'Ready to drive the market: Experiences from Road Testing the Guidelines for Providing Product Sustainability Information'. It presents the aggregated results and conclusions drawn, and feature various road testers about their experience with applying the Guidelines.
