Austria and Costa Rica in cooperation with Argentina, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, the United Nations Environment Programme and the European Commission, are pleased to invite you to the side event “Circular economy as a holistic means to accelerate the implementation of SDG 12 and SDG 13” on Tuesday, 6 July 2021 at 7.30 a.m. (EDT)
The event will convene a panel of high-level and senior officials from governments, international organizations, private sector and civil society.
The world must not lose sight of the efforts towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. The concept of a circular economy offers many opportunities to transform the way we produce and consume while accelerating the uptake of renewable energy, making this concept a viable solution to some of the most pressing global challenges.
Building on the findings of the global consultation on circular economy, led by Austria and Costa Rica and convened by UNIDO in May 2021 (https://www.unido.org/our-focus-safeguarding-environment/global-consultations-circular-economy), this side event will further explore how best we can put forward the concept of circular economy into practice, with a focus on accelerating the implementation of SDG 12 and SDG 13.
