Stepping up Women's Economic Empowerment Through Voluntary Sustainability Standards
International Women's Day is a global day celebrating women's historical, cultural, and political achievements. We believe that Voluntary Sustainability Standards (VSS) have a crucial role in stepping up women's economic empowerment (WEE) in developing countries. We invite you to join us as we discuss the role of VSS to empower women, this March 8, 2022, at 14:00 (CET), to celebrate the International Women's Day.
To mark this year’s International Women ́s Day, the United Nations Forum on Sustainability Standards (UNFSS), together with International Gender Champions, will focus on a discussion to foster WEE, especially in the agricultural sector in developing countries, via leveraging VSS. Through the event, UNFSS will discuss its research and recommendations to facilitate VSS uptake to support WEE, followed by a discussion with experts and practitioners. Through this webinar, UNFSS aims to grasp the effects of WEE through knowledge exchange and best practices on the ground, particularly on three key touchpoints:
- VSS to facilitate better women employment conditions and training infrastructures,
- VSS to facilitate women ́s access to credit for financial and agricultural inputs,
- VSS to facilitate women ́s decision-making power.
