Unsustainable consumption and production is the underlying cause of the global crises of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution and waste.

When it comes to addressing the impacts of climate change, the Paris Agreement recognizes that “…sustainable patterns of consumption and production, with developed country Parties taking the lead, play an important role in addressing climate change”.

SCP actions and policies strongly impact the ability of people and ecosystems to adapt to the adverse impacts of climate change. It is, therefore, essential to consider action on climate change adaptation as intrinsically interlinked with that on sustainable consumption and production.
