MAC Meeting of the Consumer Information Programme
The MAC Meeting of the Consumer Information Programme took place virtually on March 24th and 25th 2021. 19 MAC member organizations out of 22 were present to the meeting, along with the co-leads and the coordination desk, for a total of 41 participants. The MAC members engaged in fruitful discussions on the way forward for the Consumer Information Programme and renewed their interest on working together and participate in new initiatives.
The meeting had two main objectives:
- Review the work plan and discuss programme improvement
- Set a new work plan and discuss planned activities for 2021/2022
During the first day, the new members Hugh Weldon (Evocco), Xiaodan Zhang (CEC), Louise Widmark (Philips) were welcomed to the MAC. Bethan Laughlin introduced herself as the new Sustainable Consumption lead at Consumer International and co-coordinator of the Consumer Information Programme. The 2020/2021 work plan was reviewed, and the participants were eager to discuss on an improved strategy and new work areas for the Programme.
On the second day, members exchanged ideas on the planned activities for 2021/2022 concerning the four active Working Groups as well as additional projects and events. Among the main outputs, members will work on:
- Applying the Guidelines to e-commerce;
- Producing training materials on Type-1 ecolabels;
- Publishing a communication toolkit linking consumption and biodiversity
- Exploring the role of consumer information for the food value chain.
