LiFE Global Call for Ideas and Papers
The LiFE Global Call for Ideas and Papers is seeking innovative ideas that can help individuals, households and communities act sustainably in their daily lives.
The best submissions will be a part of the Special Compendium of top 100 LiFE Ideas, to be released by the Hon'ble Prime Minister at the LiFE Global Conference next year. The top 5 ideas will be bring to their authors recognition as UN Ambassador for LiFE Award at COP 28 and USD 25,000 for testing their idea(s) in India.
At the 2021 UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP26), Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi announced Mission LiFE, to bring individual behaviours at the forefront of the global climate action narrative.
LiFE envisions replacing the prevalent 'use-and-dispose' economy—governed by mindless and destructive consumption—with a circular economy, which would be defined by mindful and deliberate utilization. The Mission intends to nudge individuals to undertake simple acts in their daily lives that can contribute significantly to climate change when embraced across the world.
LiFE plans to leverage the strength of social networks to influence social norms surrounding climate. The Mission plans to create and nurture a global network of individuals, namely ‘Pro-Planet People’ (P3), who will have a shared commitment to adopt and promote environmentally friendly lifestyles. Through the P3 community, the Mission seeks to create an ecosystem that will reinforce and enable environmentally friendly behaviours to be self-sustainable.
The Call for Ideas and Papers invites participation from around the world, for the entire world. As such, ideas need not focus on the Indian geography/demography - applications in any global context are equally welcome since we are solving for the world.
The Focus Areas for the Call for Ideas and Papers are water, transport, food, electricity, waste, reuse and recycle. This would also include, but not be limited to ideas which can halt the trajectory of climate change. Members of the One Planet Network are encouraged to apply, as sustainable consumption and production is at the heart improving outcomes across all these critical areas. Applicants are encouraged to think about innovative ideas which link consumption patterns to more sustainable outcomes - as individuals, households, and communities.
The submissions to the Call for Ideas and Papers may be original thinking captured in idea/proposal form or it may be a tweaking/version of another paper/idea published by the author(s). The purpose is to identify flagship interventions that can set the foundation for behaviour change for sustainable lifestyles for the coming decades.
