Global Trends in Sustainable Lifestyles and Education Video

Experts within the Sustainable Lifestyles and Education (SLE) programme weigh in on how lifestyles and education are increasingly shaping the discourse and practice of sustainable development.

Climate action is taking space in policy development and national priorities across the globe. This increased awareness has stimulated discussion over how daily life choices and the systems that create our choices affect our planet and our future.

The Sustainable Lifestyles and Education (SLE) Programme aims to provide tools and information that allow individuals, policy makers and communities to create sustainable systems for living. Fortunately, lifestlyes and education are gaining attention as important factors to creating a sustainable future, and as essential tools to shape responsilbe future actors in society. 

Through a survey answered by the Multi-stakeholder Advisory Committee of the SLE programme the key methods, actors and topics within SLE have been gathered in this video. 

Some of the major trends identified include:

1. Plant-based diets and food waste

2. Slow travel

3. Climate justice

4. Conscious consumption

5. Demand for systemic change

6. Alternative economics

The survey found that those leading the way in Sustainable Lifestyles and Education were:

1. School kids

2. Businesses

3. Cities and Communities

4. Regions
