Case-study - MASLAGO: A sustainable landscape management approach to save the lake that feeds Nicaragua's cities
Contributing with a concrete case to the 10 YFP annual conference session ''The science of characterizing and assessing the transition towards more sustainable food systems". Communicating to the audience on trade-offs, impact (social coherence, environmental improvements, inclusive business engagements) and lessons learned of the integrated landscape management approach Rikolto has facilitated together with all crucial actors around lake Apanas, Nicaragua. The case study will be added to the SFS Programme Toolbox.
Rikolto has brought evidence on how it worked towards a sustainability shift in economic and environmental practices and mindsets of the agricultural and fishery actors around the lake Apanas, using a multistakeholder setting and an integrated approach. This evidence-sharing contributes to the knowledge-base of the 10YFP-network and eventually aims at upscaling practices and attracting financial or investment actors for those similar practices.
