EVENT: How to Make Sustainable Living the New Normal

An Expert Workshop for Media and Policy Makers’ organised by Futerra and UN Environment

DATE: Thursday 6 December

LOCATION: Room III, UNESCO 7 Place de Fontenoy, 75015 Paris, France

Emerging media and cultural influencers are becoming increasingly effective change agents for individuals. Experts from media, cultural influencers and specialists will be brainstorming how sustainable living and lifestyles products – like the Good Life Goals – can be more effectively shared with policymakers to better harness the power of individual decision making and encourage more sustainable choices.

The workshop will address:

• What are the Good Life Goals?

• How can messaging resonate with policymakers (and the public) and how can media forms be tapped?

• What can UN Environment do to enhance dissemination?

• What can be done for other target contexts?

It is organised by Futerra and UN Environment.

The Good Life Goals

People around the world are becoming increasingly familiar with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), but how many of us really know what we can do to reach them? The Good Life Goals represent an effort to answer this question and help a global audience to recognize the vital role of individual action in achieving the SDGs. The Good Life Goals lay out 85 ways anyone can contribute towards the huge, planet-changing objectives that sit at the heart of the SDG agenda.

Who is behind them?

The Goals have been shaped through a multi-stakeholder collaboration between Futerra, Sustainable Lifestyles and Education program, co-led by the governments of Sweden and Japan represented by the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) and the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), as well as UN Environment, UNESCO and WBCSD.
