EVENT: Beacons of Hope in a Turbulent World: The Building Evidence for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems Transformations

Showcasing beacons of hope and transformation pathways at CFS 46.

Several partners of the SFS Programme co-organized a side event titled "Beacons of Hope in a Turbulent World: The Building Evidence for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems Transformations" with Global Alliance for the Future of Food/Agroecology Fund, Biovision, Switzerland, Zambia, UNEP, FAO, IPES-Food, Hivos and WWF. The side event aimed to amplify the potential of transforming food systems to address critical global issues such as climate change, biodiversity, equity, and health.

These assets support institutional change pathways towards the cross-sectoral, multi-stakeholder collaboration that is required for achieving effective integrated food policies.

Further, they showcased how the practice of agroecology has become a clear trend in experiences of sustainable food systems transformation, echoing the report on agroecology and other innovative approaches by FAO's High Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition - as well as manifested by the inclusion of agroecology on the CFS46 agenda.
