240 hours for Jan. to June 2018 480 hours July to Dec 2018 In the last period - between July and December 2018 - each club of 50 farmers was trained for an average of 2 hours for training in 2 sessions per month, for a total of 10 hours per farmer group of 250 members. The total number of hours for 8 groups is 8x10 hours per month. Therefore for the last 6 months, 480 hours of training were provided to ensure sustainability. Training covered production and maintenance of crops and market suitability, small grain and healthy harvest. All 2,000 farmers grow a minimum of 5 field crops in their individual fields selected from the following list: legumes (groundnuts, cowpeas, beans, roundnuts), cereal (maize, finger millet and soghurm), and tubers (cassava, sweet potatoes, irish potatoes) All 2000 farmers have a minimum of 13 garden crops under production in their individual gardens. Training sessions were conducted by farming instructors and AGRITEX at small club level (50 farmers each) for a total of 836 hours for the 8 farmers' groups. Farmers' individual gardens had an average of 13 varieties of garden crops, although types varied. 16 seed varieties were distributed in 2017 and 2018 to all 40 group gardens. In 2017, farmers had a total yield of 607.157kgs and in 2018 it was 891.090; this represents a 46,7% increase from 2017. -105 farmers sold 1350kgs of dried vegetables at $2/kg, giving an average of $25.70 per farmer -On average, farmers sold 85% of the yields (757 425.5kgs) at an average of $1 per kg. This gives an average of $378.71 per farmer in 2018. Maize yields for each farmer were an average of 0.9 MT of cereal (maize, finger millet, and soghurm). This was above the district average, which - according to AGRITEX - was 0.6MT (for 2018) per farmer in Mutasa and 0.8MT in Gutu.
