Centre for Responsible Business (CRB) - 5th Annual Conference, 'India & Sustainability Standard 2018', 14-16 Nov, Delhi

As an organisation working on sustainability/sustainable development, the Centre for Responsible Business (CRB) believes collaboration is fundamental to achieve the ambitious Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – and its necessary to assess various approaches in this direction and impacts thereof. The 2018 version of CRB's Annual Conference would entail deliberations on collaboration between key actors that leverage CSR and voluntary sustainability standards to achieve SDGs in India, on various sectoral and thematic areas.
(i) Advancing a result-based approach for facilitating discussions and actions on Sustainable Development issues, by assessing evolution of voluntary sustainability standards and enabling multi-stakeholder discourses on critical sustainability issues (ii) Creating connections with international processes and actors on sustainability (Glocal in nature), thereby supporting business and policy contributions towards positive social, economic and environmental impacts in India and beyond (iii) Facilitating thoughtful deliberations attracting Indian and international policy actors, government agencies, standard setters, large and small businesses, civil society, academia, and media agencies, for participatory and inclusive dialogues on opportunities and challenges for promoting sustainability in India - This is the 5th version of the CRB Annual Conference, to be held in Eros Hotel, New Delhi - The event will start with an Inaugural Plenary Day (14th November), where the following High-level Panels would be organised: (i) Effective Methods of Collaboration in Pursuing SDGs: What Lessons for India? (ii) Cooperation Among and Across Governments: Linking the Global Goals with the Local Challenges (iii) Creating Lasting Public and Private Sector Collaboration Models in Practice, Building Trust (iv) How to Make Multi-stakeholder Partnerships Work to Achieve SDGs? - On the second & third day (15th & 16th November), over 20 thematic and sectoral parallel sessions would be organised. Some of the sessions that have been finalised are: = Electronics Waste Management in India = Collaboration among Sustainability Standards on Water Stewardship for Agriculture = Circular Economy and its Relevance for Indian Industry and Stakeholders = Promoting Responsible Value Chains for contribution of Businesses towards SDGs = Business and Human Rights = Collaboration for Sustainable Landscapes = District Mineral Foundation for Sustainable Outcomes from Mining in India = Future-proofing CSR in India – a forward looking approach = Workshop: Mitigating Forced Labour and/or Child Labour in Apparel and Textiles Supply Chain = Workshop: Product Sustainability Information for Consumers - in collaboration with the Consumer Information Programme of the One Planet network, led by Naomi Scott-Mearns = Workshop: Aligning CSR initiatives with Global & National Goals = Private Sector and Gender Equality = Over 3,000 participants have been part of this event over the past 5 years = It has led to the development of a few multi-stakeholder sustainability initiatives in India (water stewardship, sustainable palm oil, bilateral CSR & sustainability, private sector & gender equality) = Reaching out to over 20,000 people about the relevance of responsible business in India = Strengthening interaction between the international community and the national practitioners Interested stakeholders are encouraged to register and actively participate in this event.
