Understanding what these standards deliver on the ground is an important part of the debate about their ongoing relevance.
The concept of Sustainable Nutrition is an effective communication tool, as it transforms scientific research into ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) practice (examples include the Online-Video-Course, Organic-City Munich). It is based on holistic thinking and considers the multi-dimensional interactions along the food supply chain. ESD is a promising way to raise awareness about sustainable produced foods. It requires the commitment and support of all relevant stakeholders.

The findings of the 6th Consultation provide important insight into how Member States are implementing the 1974 Recommendation as well as how they are progressing towards Target 4.7 of SDG 4 on Education. Target 4.7 concerns ESD and Global Citizenship Education, which are closely related to the 1974 Recommendation.

The discussions and dialogue focussed on the environmental impacts of the brick sector and the potential to mitigate these impacts through an inclusive economic strategy that supports economic growth needed to fuel development in the state.
This is England's resource and waste strategy which is in alignment with the 25 Year Environment Plan, the aim of which is to leave the environment in a better position for future generations. Sustainable Consumption and Production is at the heart of this strategy, particularly in chapter 2 which outlines plans for a domestic ecolabel, plastics waste reduction, and proposed deposit return scheme for bottles, amongst other things.
VSS are known to have a positive impact in areas where certified entities operate but VSS can also influence the enabling environment. There is not yet a lot of evidence of these so-called systemic impacts of VSS on the enabling environment. This white paper aims to contribute to this evidence gap as well as provide a working definition for the concept of systemic impacts.
