Plasticized Childhood: The impact of plastic toy advertising to children on their health and the environment

This report analyzes the correlation between advertising to children, the commercialization of toys in Brazil and its effects on the consumption and disposal of plastic, as well as on children's health. Considering that 90% of toys worldwide are made of plastic and that toy advertising to children are predominant on TV and in Youtube, it exposes the challenges of children commercial exploitation by this sector and brings technical, political, environmental and pedagogical solutions to this issue. A research carried out by the Federal University of São Carlos Green Chemistry, Sustainability and Education Research Group, commissioned by Alana Institute through the Child and Consumerism programs.
