In a joint effort, the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the federal states launched the online-platform www.lebensmittelwertschätzen.de . The Internet platform is the first online step on the way to a joint strategy by the Federal Government and the Federal States to reduce food waste and food losses. The website highlights best-practice-examples. Furthermore, it provides tools to avoid food waste for consumers and gastronomy – for instance checklists, calculation tables, training materials and documentation templates.
By providing tools to avoid food waste and by spreading best-practice examples the website www.lebensmittelwertschätzen.de contributes to the goal of halving per capita food waste by 2030.
