National CSR Award Georg Weifert – Good Practise Examples

  • Published on February 12, 2022

Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia organized the eighth cycle of the National Award for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) named by Georg Weifert, and published in September 2021 "Examples of Good Practice", which contains examples of socially responsible projects and actions of companies declared as CSR leaders in 2021.

With creation of this publication Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia is promoting values that should be in the core of all business – responsible behavior toward people, environment, market, property, and community. Three examples (out of 20) are directly involved in SDG 12, aiming to promote responsible production and consumption.

One of the examples was company that is engaged in the production of barbecue briquettes and the production of bio-coal (biochar). The production process of biochar has been improved, so that there are no emissions of pollutants into the air, and the energy generated during this process is used for drying and heating, which closes the circle and sustainably manages resources.

Another example is a small company that implemented a project Waste separation. One of the most important goals and effects of this project is for the company to raise awareness of the need to reduce waste and reuse. The goal is achieved because a positive impact has been achieved on the families of employees, as well as on other companies with which they share space.

The third example is a company that is a regional leader in the production of printed and laminated cardboard packaging and blister cardboard, inspired by the vision to produce smart packaging for all brands. Considering the whole life cycle of its products, the company strives for a zero-impact policy, where eco-friendly packaging and materials, green supply chain, and recycling play significant roles in reducing the environmental impact of their production activities. Today, 93.1% of the materials used in the company's production process are recycled, and 100% of the packaging produced is designed to be recycled at the end of its life.
